Buccaneers fall to Saints

The Buccaneers fell to the New Orleans Saints 31-24. The two teams were playing for control of first place in the division. The Saints took that control today.

The Buccaneers offense started the game sputtering a little bit. Ok let’s be honest, quarterback Jameis Winston struggled to start the game. The offense never really found a rhythm and sputtered against the Saints defense throughout. The blame doesn’t all fall at the feet of Winston though. In fact, not as much as most will say should. The offensive line struggled to give Winston time consistently. The run was effective when used, but was abandoned as the lead grew.

Stats

J.Winston: 14/26, 162 yards, 2 TDs
R. Jones: 9 carries 35 yards
P. Barber: 8 carries 32 yards 1 TD
C. Godwin: 7 rec 125 yards 2 TDs

The defense played decent at times but just couldn’t slow down Teddy Bridgewater and Michael Thomas. Teddy Bridgewater played a great game against what at times appeared to be a tired or lethargic Buccaneers defense. To give credit where credit is due, The Saints completely shutdown wide receiver Mike Evans.

Stats

K. Minter: 9 Tackles
J. Whitehead: 6 tackles
S. Bunting: 3 tackles, 1 int.

The Buccaneers fall to 2-3 on the season and head to London to take on the Carolina Panthers next Sunday.
