Bucs down 2 offensive linemen

Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians spoke to the media today. Coming off a divisional loss to the Saints never makes for a good Monday. Hearing the head coach inform the media that the entire right side of the offensive line will miss next week’s game against the Panthers is downright disheartening.

Tampa Bay’s right guard Alex Cappa broke his arm during the game against the Saints and will be sidelined for several weeks. That’s terrible news for a team already struggling with their offensive line. Then Arians dropped another bomb: Right tackle Demar Dotson will also miss next week’s game against Carolina.

The Buccaneers have struggled mightily up and down the offensive line. This news is just a kick to the gut, a slap in the face if you will. Dotson is nursing a hamstring injury and may return after this Sunday’s game. But Cappa won’t be back for at least a couple weeks. That as they say is “no bueno”.

Look for the Buccaneers to fill these voids with Earl Watford (guard) and Josh Wells (tackle). Don’t be surprised if rookie Zack Bailey also gets some reps Sunday. Either way you look at it, the Buccaneers offensive line is in a precarious position. One that doesn’t look to have a simple fix any time soon.
