Second thoughts?

The Buccaneers are 2-5 and by most people’s expectations a major disappointment so far this season. Odd when you look back to the offseason and remember all the promise, all the quotes, and all the hype. A coaching staff stocked with talent, respectability and proven track records. Add on that Bruce Arians himself said he missed the brotherhood that comes with football.

Fast forward to present day and seven games into his Buccaneers coaching career and it seems Arians might be having second thoughts.

Bruce Arians was talking with the Seattle media who asked about his time away from coaching.

“I’ll be honest with you, I didn’t miss it that much, I just hated the travel of television. This opportunity came along, and the General Manager is a good friend, I love the ownership, and all of my assistant coaches were available, and when my wife got excited, I said, ‘OK, why not?’”

Not exactly the energy he had shortly after being hired by the Buccaneers. Arians is known as the “quarterback whisperer”, the guy who could fix Jameis Winston. If you listened to most media talking heads this team was playoff-bound before the ink dried on Arians’ contract. Now, we have heard him speak about coaches and GMs being fired, the referees not being held accountable, the wide receivers running the wrong route, etc. All of this comes on the heals of Arians’ first 3-game losing streak in his head coaching career.

This may be a case of looking too deep into Arians’ comments. Then again, maybe he is realizing the biscuit may not be worth the risk it.
