Miami Set the Super Bowl Bar High for Tampa Bay in 2021

Miami had the weather all week. Sets with blowing palm trees. Sunshine in such abundance it seemed at times absurd. There were large boats with even larger beaches. Even radio row had a sleek, feng shui look to it. If there were any misses, they were missed. Our south Florida neighbors pulled off a fantastic job as host of Super Bowl LIV.

Tampa Bay is on the Clock

From the moment the big game ends, all eyes look forward to the next year. There will be parades for the Chiefs and 49ers. The Packers and Titans have still only kicked their feet up for like five minutes so far. But for the other 28 teams that have been off the clock for a month or more, Super Bowl LV in Tampa Bay is already on their minds. They have a picture in the top right of the dresser mirror, like Rocky Balboa in Rocky V.

So Much to Do

St. Petersburg is finishing the beautiful Pier. There is a 26 story Marriot going up across the street from Marriot Water Street Hotel near the Amalie Arena. There is so much construction still going on right near Raymond James Stadium in the Midtown Tampa project. See an in-depth article from the Tampa Bay Times (here).

Every day between today and Super Bowl week, 2021 will be consumed with meetings, discussions, construction, and then, they will do it all again. The game puts the eyes of the world on our community and we want to lean in, not fall down.

Now About that Miami

The coverage all week was solid. The stadium looked a lot different from the days it bore the Fruit of the Loom moniker, Pro Player Park. But the point that needs to be made here is about that halftime show! Shakira and Jennifer Lopez showed the world that it was ladies’ night and the feeling was definitely right.

The Latino heritage and history in Miami made the selection of these two for the Pepsi Halftime Show pure genius. The entire show can be seen (here). Don’t get me wrong, the game was good. The halftime show was great! This has to be already on the minds of the NFL, the Tampa Bay Super Bowl planning committee, and anybody associated with the big event.

What’s Ahead

We will have the draft, then there will be summer camp, preseason, regular season, and the postseason sprint to Super Bowl LV. I’m just needing to find out who the halftime entertainment for the Super Bowl will be. It’s going to take a lot to beat Sunday’s show, but Tampa Bay will try.
