Buccaneer Receiver Makes 2020 All-Under-25 Team

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have dominated NFL offseason news. The signing of quarterback Tom Brady, trading for tight end Rob Gronkowski and of course the debut of new uniforms. It’s been a wild ride to say the least.

The season is less than 100 days away and the Buccaneers news just keeps coming! Marc Sessler from NFL.com recently posted his “2020 All-Under-25 Team” and low and behold it has a Buccaneer on it!.

Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin has turned several heads in his first years averaging 900 yards receiving in each year. That alone is enough to put Godwin on Sessler’s list! Sessler gives his reasoning behind placing Godwin on this list.

“Long before Tom Brady ventured south, Godwin shape-shifted into a whirlwind for secondaries to ponder. Bucs coach Bruce Arians crystal-balled a big year for Godwin last offseason, saying: “I think [he’s] going to be close to a 100-catch guy.” Close, indeed, with 86 grabs for 1,333 yards (third among all wideouts last season) and nine touchdowns. All of this came with veteran receiver Mike Evans gobbling up a 67/1,157/8 line of his own for a Tampa offense set to explode with Brady and Rob Gronkowski added to the lineup.”

The Buccaneers are stacked at the skill positions. With players like Mike Evans, Rob Gronkowski, Tom Brady, O.J. Howard and Cameron Brate it’s easy to wonder if Godwin’s numbers will suffer. Who will opposing defenses double, Evans, Gronkowski? You can pick your poison as to who to double. Regardless, Godwin will most likely be open, as he always seems to be.
