Buccaneers Players Hold Another Practice

Early Tuesday morning Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady and approximately a dozen Tampa Bay Buccaneers held practice. As reported by Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, who has been all over these “secret practices”

Late last week the NFL Players Association recommended players stop practicing together until training camp. The NFLPA’s medical director Thom Mayer released the following statement.

‘‘Please be advised that it is our consensus medical opinion that in light of the increase in COVID-19 cases in certain states that no players should be engaged in practicing together in private workouts. Our goal is to have all players and your families as healthy as possible in the coming months. We are working on the best mitigation procedures at team facilities for both training camps and the upcoming season and believe that it is in the best interest of all players that we advise against any voluntary joint practices before training camp commences.”

On the same day as Mayer’s statement the Buccaneers confirmed “there have been individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 at the AdventHealth Training Center,”

This is a very strange time we’re all going through. Uncharted territory is never the easiest to navigate. The NFL and the NFLPA are at least trying to do what they can to help protect the players and keep this virus from spreading. The players themselves are trying to do everything they can to prepare for the upcoming season. Unfortunately these two conflict with what each side is trying to accomplish.
