Buccaneers Best Panthers 31-17 in Divisional Battle

After a week one flop, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers evened their record to 1-1 after a 31-17 over the Carolina Panthers. Here is the recap of all the action.

 

Quarter One

The Buccaneers get the ball first, but unlike last week, the offense goes three and out to start the game.

Teddy Bridgewater and the Carolina Panthers start driving methodically down the field. Jordan Whitehead picks off Bridgewater on the Buccaneers own 20 yard line on an arrant throw to Christian McCaffrey.

After a big gain by Mike Evans, Ronald Jones runs in for a seven yard touchdown. The Buccaneers lead 7-0 with 5:42 left in the first quarter.

On the second play of the drive for the Panthers, Antoine Winfield Jr. caused a strip sack on Teddy Bridgewater, recovered by Jason Pierre-Paul. On the very next play, Tom Brady finds Mike Evans for a 23 yard touchdown to make the lead 14-0.

Quarter Two

The Buccaneers were methodically driving down the field, taking five minutes off the clock, after a Ronald Jones fumble gave the ball back to the Panthers.

On a fourth down in Buccaneers territory, the Panthers fake a punt with three yards to go, and do not convert. The defense continues to make a major impact.

After some trickery with a flea flicker to Justin Watson, Leonard Fournette scores on a one yard run.

The two teams share a few punts before Teddy Bridgwater falls to a sack by Jason Pierre-Paul. The Buccaneers lead at the half 21-0.

Quarter Three

Lavonte David recovers a forced fumble to open quarter three. On the very next play, Brady throws an ill advise interception, which is returned into Buccaneers territory.

The Panthers score on a one yard touchdown run by Christian McCaffrey after a pass interference in the end zone. The Buccaneers still lead 21-7 halfway through the third quarter.

After a share of punts, the Panthers have the ball in Buccaneers territory to start the fourth

Fourth Quarter

On a fourth and two, Teddy Bridgewater pitches the ball to McCaffrey on an option play for a touchdown. After a brutal third quarter, the Buccaneers lead 21-14 with 13:25 left in the game.

Teddy Bridgewater connects with Robby Anderson for a massive gain to the Buccaneers 40 yard line. On the next play, Will Gholston sacks Bridgewater for a loss.

Tom Brady drops a pass into LeSean McCoys arms, but he drops it. Tampa Bay has to settle for a field goal, and the Bucs lead 24-14.

After a grounding penalty by Teddy Bridgewater, the Panthers have to settle for a field goal with two minutes remaining.

After Rob Gronkowski’s onside kick recovery, Leonard Fournette scores a 46 yard rushing touchdown to make it a two possession game, and seal the victory.

The Buccaneers move to 1-1 on the season, and take on the Denver Broncos in week three.
