Despite the injuries to the offensive line, it has been playing comparably better than last years line. It has only given up 11 sacks in 5 games and at that rate they would be looking to give up only 40 sacks. That may seem like a lot, but considering last year’s line gave up 52 sacks 40 doesn’t seem that big of a number. With our line getting considerably stronger, and the running backs playing so well; the number of sacks on the QB should decrease.
“As the preseason came to an end there was one major question about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ offense, could the team’s offensive line hold up? The unit has been a steady force, even if the lineup hasn’t been consistent. Only twice this season, during games against Houston and Carolina, have the Buccaneers started the same lineup of left tackle Donovan Smith, left guard Logan Mankins, center Joe Hawley, right guard Ali Marpet and right tackle Gosder Cherilus. In that second game against the Panthers, Tampa Bay rushed for 141 yards.” – Reported by Rick brown
