The 2016 season marks the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 41st year as an NFL franchise. That’s right, 40 years of Buccaneers football has come and gone and I thought it might be fun to take a look back.
Just 11 of those 40 years the Bucs finished with a winning record, and only ten times have we reached the post season. We have had 12 different head coaches and half of them have been fired in four years or less.
Yeah, I guess you could say most of us wouldn’t mind a few do over seasons after the last four decades. Except 2002, man what a great year that was. The Buccaneers one and only Super Bowl appearance. We beat Rich Gannon and the Raiders like a bunch of JV walk-ons. For some of us fans, we hold onto that victory through every disappointing loss. A memory of what our team once was and what we know will be again. To one of the most resilient fan bases, never jump ship. We will Siege the day. Here’s to the next 40 years of Buccaneers football. Go Bucs.
