Bucs may replace Jackson with a committee.

In place of the recent injury to WR Vincent Jackson, the Buccaneers organization are considering going with a committee of receivers to fill in the void. Even though he hasn’t been targeted much compared to previous years, Jackson still leaves a pretty big empty spot after being sidelined.

Among the players that will be filling in are Cecil Shorts who just returned to practice this week, Russell Shepard, Adam Humphries, and recently re-signed Donteea Dye. Basically, every other WR we have aside from Louis Murphy who may be returning soon as well.

If Humphries continues to play in his normal slot position, Shorts could end up bearing the biggest workload of them all until Murphy returns, due to his experience. Shorts feels confident that he will be ready to go on Sunday in San Francisco but, we’ll see how that works out as the week goes on.

Shepard has played between 6 and 14 snaps in each of the first 5 games, almost breaking his season total already. So far, however, he’s been more important in his role as Captain of special teams but, that could soon change as well.

I wish them all luck, they have big shoes to fill.
