If you weren’t excited about a 6’1 wide out who has 4.4 speed, then you’ll be excited to know that Chris Godwin, one of the Bucs 3rd round picks, linked up with former all-pro Wide Receiver Calvin Johnson.
Johnson worked out with Godwin while he trained for the NFL Scouting Combine.
In an interview with the Detriot Free Press Godwin had this to say about working with Johnson, “Obviously, Calvin being the accomplished receiver that he is, he has a lot of knowledge to share. I was just trying to do the best that I could to soak up all the information that I could from him and try to implement little things that he was teaching me into my game.”
Godwin turned several heads in the 2017 Rose Bowl turning out a 9 catches 187 receiving and 2 TDs performance in a 52 to 49 loss to 3rd Ranked USC.
Johnson posted a picture on his Instagram with this comment “This young fella right here is a coach’s dream always striving to be better enjoyed working with ya.”
The mentoring will not stop there for Godwin as DeSean Jackson also took on another Wideout in this year’s draft, John Ross. Jackson will teach Godwin how to harness his speed and in no time at all Godwin will be a valuable target for Jamies and this already star-studded offense.
