The Buccaneers sign veteran QB

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers sign veteran QB Ryan Fitzpatrick on Friday. Fitzpatrick has wanted to continue his football career despite not having any public interest from any teams making his signing unique. However, the lack of a veteran backup may be the reasoning behind this signing.

Tampa fans have been screaming for a QB signing that would adequately backup starting QB Jameis Winston seeing Ryan Griffin has not taken a regular-season snap. Fitzpatrick has proven to be a capable QB throughout his career and will be an excellent backup in place of Mike Glennon. In his two years with the Jets, Fitzpatrick has amassed 6,615 yards passing, 43 touchdowns, and averaged over 200 yards a game passing.

Last season with the Jets shown a downward jog in his production as he only threw for 2,710 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 17 ints. He won’t be battling for the starting position, but surely will take on the role of backup, and will be a solid security blanket if needed. I personally welcome this addition.
