With the season still more than three months away, it is never too early for some depth chart speculation and evaluation. Here is who I believe will be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers starters on offense in Week 1 of the Regular Season:
Offensive Line: Ali Marpet, J.R. Sweezy, Donovan Smith, Joe Hawley, Demar Dotson
Our O-Line is below average. Clearly the weak spot on this offense. Hopefully, Winston will get enough time to be able to end the season in one piece. Tampa Bay should invest heavily in the Offensive Line in the Draft or Free Agency next year!
Overall grade: C-
Quarterback: Jameis Winston
The future of our franchise! Our leader! Winston had a very promising start to his NFL career. Has shown flashes of brilliance over and over again. Has tons of heart and pure will to win! Should improve his numbers from last year due to more experience and a better arsenal to work with!
Overall grade: A-
Halfback: Doug Martin
Well, at least it is going to be Martin after Week 3. He seems to be doing really well. Looks like he might come close to the form he had two years ago. For the next year, maybe two, we are still fine at Running Back!
Overall grade: B
Wide Receivers: Mike Evans, DeSean Jackson
Evans has undoubtedly reached an elite level among Wide Receivers in the NFL. I would not trade him for ANY other Receiver in the league. Adding speedster Jackson gives Winston a lethal combination of Wide Receivers to work with. This unit is among the best in the NFL.
Overall grade: A
Tight Ends: Cameron Brate, O.J. Howard
Brate has proven to connect with our quarterback very effectively. He has been a force in this offense for a while. Howard has yet to take his first NFL snap, but he looks very promising. Will help out blocking for Winston or opening holes for our Running Backs, as well.
Overall grade: B+
All in all, our offense looks very promising! Well, as promising as it has never looked before, to be quite honest! If Licht can fix the O-Line in the coming years, our Buccaneers might soon be amongst the NFL’s best offenses! The future is bright, Bucs fans!
