Over the last couple weeks, this writer has noticed quite a few Jameis Winston haters. People have called for nonsense, such as trading Winston for Kirk Cousins, to signing another QB to guide us to a championship. Whether you like it or not, Winston is our QB for the foreseeable future.
Since being drafted with the first overall pick, Winston has become the first QB in NFL history to throw for 4000 yards his first two seasons. His completion percentage has improved every year, with a career high 61.4 completion percentage, before being injured this year. Sure, he has some things to improve on. His deep ball could use better touch and he must cut down on the interceptions in the Red Zone.
The Glazers are not going to pull the plug on our franchise QB any time soon, so why all the haters? Why don’t fans rally behind our young QB? The only thing this writer can tell is it’s the fair weather fans, which have plagued the Bucs ever since we became a franchise.
