If you’re a Bucs fan or watched HBO’s series Hard Knocks this year, then you should unquestionably remember LB Riley Bullough. For those of you that don’t know, Bullough was an undrafted free agent from Michigan State. In college, at 6’2” and 228 pounds, he was a decent size for a 4-3 middle linebacker. Some people are calling for him to transition into a DE. This is a ridiculous idea. He’d have to gain 30 pounds and he’s not athletic enough to make the conversion to a D Lineman.
The Bucs took a chance on Bullough in free agency. Although small, not very fast and not at all athletic, he has excellent field smarts, He is always around the ball and is an incredible leader for his age. For now, he could definitely make a great backup, that can be molded into an excellent starter. All any player needs is a chance, especially when you’re 4-9.
