On October 25th, 2017,  Hillsborough County Sheriff reported to an active intrusion alarm at T.J. Ward’s apartment. Upon entering the apartment they discovered two large jars containing approximately 99 grams of Marijuana. It is believed that the Marijuana belonged to the Buccaneers safety.

On January, 3rd 2018, Ward was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court for the possession of a felony amount of Marijuana and a misdemeanor paraphernalia charge.

Ward’s agent released a statement following the arrest that Ward believed that the incident was resolved back in October, as he was not arrested at the time. Furthermore, his agent stated that Ward was not home when the police allegedly located Marijuana in his home and that he adamantly denies the allegations. Ward never received a notice to appear in court and is confused as to why something that he believed to be resolved back in October is coming up now. He hopes to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
