The Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver will be out for at least 6 months to recover from rotator cuff surgery that is said to have been a “full tear”.

After sustaining the injury during training camp, Jeffery opted to play through the pain for the season, starting all 16 regular season games for the Eagles, catching 57 passes for 789 yards and nine touchdowns, averaging 13.8 yards per catch.

In the postseason he also had 12 receptions for 219 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 18.3 yards per catch; as well as the impressive 34-yard scoring grab in the Eagles victory over the Patriots in Super Bowl.

Jeffery was signed to a four-year, $52 million deal with the Eagles, in December. He is not expected to return in time for training camp, but the Eagles are hopeful he will be ready for the regular season.

A photo of Jeffrey was posted on Twitter, after his surgery, with a message from him for the fans, “I’ll be back soon for another ring!!! #flyeaglesfly.“
