Standing at 6’5″ and weighing in at 231lbs, Mike Evans is certainly one of the biggest Receivers in the NFL. Coupled with a truly jaw dropping catch radius the Texas native is capable of making plays most others could only dream of.
But for some reason fans in Tampa are highly critical of the Bucs number 1 receiver? Some say he lacks elite speed, but the tale of the tape often shows him getting separation from defensive backs! Some say he has an attitude problem on the field, but he’s a young competitor and like many greats who want to win he gets frustrated. Four back to back seasons, he has gained over 1000 yards receiving and had multiple touchdowns.
What more does he need to do?
Reggie Wayne of NFL.com recently ranked Mike Evans at number 7 in the top Receivers under 25! Could Evans improve? Obviously as there is no perfect player. Should the fans in the Bay area be happy? Yes!
One of the knocks on Johnny Football coming out of Texas A&M was that Mike Evans was the offense, being able to pull in errant throws. He’s shown that ability and more while in Pewter and long may the upward trend continue. With the chemistry between himself and Jameis Winston developing year by year, this coming season could see Evans improve on already impressive numbers and move him upwards in the ranking of best players.
Whatever you personally think of Mike, you can rest assured that defensive coordinators around the NFL have headaches trying to scheme for this great player.
