Mike Evans: “This is the Best Team I’ve been on”

  1. Home
  2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Standing at 6’5”, weighing in at 231lbs, having reached the 1000 yard receiving mark in each of his first four seasons, Mike Evans has definitely achieved a legendary status among Buccaneers wide receivers already in his very young career. The 25 year-old seems to be as excited as ever about the new upcoming campaign. When asked by reporters in a press conference on Tuesday what his “favorite thing” would be on this team in his fifth year in the league, Evans responded,

“I think this is the best team that I’ve been on since I’ve been with the Bucs. So I’m pretty excited about that. The energy, the swagger, the depth at each position. I just love this team. This is the funnest training camp I’ve had. I’m just looking forward to the season.”

Evans certainly has a point, particularly regarding the wide receiver position. But even as a whole, the Bucs should be better than they have been in a long time. What might turn out to be an obstacle the team might not overcome this year is the suspension of Jameis Winston and a schedule that looks ridiculously difficult, at least on paper… yet, should the schedule even be an option to use as an excuse? Probably not.

Let us hope Mike Evans can make his first statement this Sunday when it counts against a very tough New Orleans Saints secondary.
