Wentz & Jeffery to be out week 2

In week 2 of the regular season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers play against the current NFL champions, the Philadelphia Eagles. While this looks like an easy win for Philadelphia to a lot of analysts (also caused by Winston’s suspension), you should not count the Bucs out, yet.

According to Adam Schefter from ESPN, Philadelphia’s number 1 wideout Alshon Jeffrey is expected to miss not only the season opener, but also the game against Tampa Bay, as well (Source: ESPN). Jeffrey, who is a  major reason why the Eagles won the Super Bowl last year, has sustained a shoulder injury.

In addition to Jeffrey, Philadelphia’s starting quarterback Carson Wentz might also miss the game. Wentz has not yet fully recovered from the ACL injury he endured last season and already missed the opening game against the Atlanta Falcons. As of now, his status for week 2 is questionable. In case that he will miss games, he will be replaced by Super Bowl-winning quarterback Nick Foles, who struggled in yesterday’s season opener.

Without a doubt, Jeffrey and Wentz are two of the most important players on the Eagles‘ offense. If they miss the game against Tampa, it would make life a lot easier for the Bucs.
