NFL: Fantasy Football Week Two Starts and Sits

0

Week one is the books. I hope everyone had a successful week. As we look ahead to week two, everyone is probably running to the waiver wire. Especially if they had players like Greg Olsen, Leonard Fournette, and others. However, do not be so quick to run and grab someone just because they had a good opening day. That rush to judgment can cost you your team. So in saying that, let’s take a look at whom I think you should start and sit in week 2.

Start

QB

Case Keenum – Denver Broncos

The Broncos new QB got off to a slow start on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks. That is not saying much. Many QBs did. Nonetheless, Keenum finished with a solid stat line. 25-39 for 329 yards, 3 TDs, and 3 INTs. Good enough for 25 fantasy points. With a solid matchup against a weak Raiders secondary in week 2, Keenum is a good start.

RB

Adrian Peterson – Washington Redskins

Peterson rejuvenated a Washington Redskins running game that had been nonexistent for several seasons. Now, they look to a complete offense. At least after week one. Thus making AP a must-start in week two. The Colts defense gave up 5 yards per carry in week one.

WR

Josh Gordan – Cleveland Browns

The Browns scheduled Gordan to be a snap count last week after returning from his hiatus. Instead, he played on 78 percent of the team’s offensive snaps. He only caught one ball but it was for the game-tying TD. I would play him against a New Orleans Saints defense that allowed 4 TDs to Tampa Bay Buccaneer receivers.

TE

George Kittle – San Francisco 49ers

Kittle was on the receiving end of nine targets from Jimmy Garoppolo. Totaling 14 fantasy points along the way. The Niners have a good matchup for him to do the same thing in week 2 against the Detroit Lions

Kicker

Chris Boswell – Pittsburgh Steelers

Boswell had a rough outing last week due to the weather in Cleveland. He should have a pretty solid game in week 2 against the Kansas City Chiefs at home in Heinz Field. Look for this to possibly become a high scoring affair.

Defense

Chicago Bears

The Bears are available in many leagues. If they are available in your league, I would not hesitate to pick them up. They had a 14 fantasy point outing in their week one loss against the Green Bay Packers. Week two should yield the same successes against the Seattle Seahawks.

So there you have your starts for week 2. Now let us look at who should not be playing on your fantasy team.

Sits

QB

Blake Bortles – Jacksonville Jaguars

Bortles had his struggles last week with the New York Giants defense. He was only able to find the end zone one time for a total of 13 fantasy points. Week 2 does bring a better matchup as they face the New England Patriots whose defense was a surprise in week one.

RB

Derrick Henry – Tennessee Titans

Henry saw his expected snaps diminish with the addition of Dion Lewis. In fact, he took 29 fewer than Lewis on Sunday. Now, that could have been due to the nature of the game. However, until I see different, I am sitting Henry.

WR

Amari Cooper – Oakland Raiders

Cooper is not a thorn in the side of the Denver Broncos. He has not had a good game in the last four of against them. Therefore, a week two matchup against the Broncos means sit the Raiders WR.

TE

Kyle Rudolph – Minnesota Vikings

Last week against Trey Burton and the Chicago Bears, the Green Bay Packers only allowed 3 points to the TE. The secondary of the Packers was improved for such matchups this season. That is why I am staying away from Kyle Rudolph.

Kicker

Matt Prater – Detroit Lions

Prater was a disappointment last week as was the entire Lions team. Week two, they may not fare much better against the 49ers.

Defense

Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks allowed 470 yards to Case Keenum and the Broncos. While Mitch Trubisky and the Bears are not completely on that level, they should find their successes against a struggling Seattle defense.

So there you have your week 2 start em and sit em for your fantasy lineup. Last week I went 3-1 in my four leagues. Hey, you cannot win em all. I hope you fared as well. Good Luck!!
