Bucs vs Steelers All-Time Record And It’s Not Pretty

0

The last time Tampa beat the Steelers was in week 4 of the 2014 season. Mike Glennon was the QB and landed 21 passes out of 42 attempts for 302 yards and 2 TDs. Doug Martin was the running back, putting down 42 yards on the ground on 13 attempts with a score. WR Louis Murphy almost had 100 yards receiving, but it was the rookie Mike Evans and the veteran Vincent Jackson who entered the promised land for a touchdown apiece. The defense had an amazing outing, sacking Ben Roethlisberger five times and capping a great win in Pittsburgh—The only win in Pittsburgh by Tampa Bay.

The overall record between these two teams leaves something to be desired for the Pewter Pirates, and that’s wins. With an all-time series of 8-2 against the Steelers, Tampa needs to begin placing those check marks in the win column.

Making matters worse, the Bucs are 1-5 when playing the Steelers at home. The last time Tampa beat the Steelers at home was in 1998. It was an ugly game with some beautiful players. Trent Dilfer led the Buccaneers, defending the Bay by keeping the Steelers out of the end zone. The A-train ran the ball up the gut for 5 yards, scoring the only TD in that contest. With 10 points scored by kicker Michael Husted (3 field goals and 1 extra point), the Buccaneers routed the Steelers 16-3. A glorious rainy afternoon it was indeed!

Tampa will need to fire on all cylinders Monday night. During the first two games of the season, they did just that. However, this is a big game for the Buccaneers as Tony Dungy returns to Raymond James Stadium to be inducted into the Ring of Honor. Hopefully, we can return the favor and honor Tony Dungy’s win at home with another one.
