2-2 Isn’t A Bad Spot To Be In

The Bucs are 2-2 at the close of the first quarter of the season. Yet many fans across the board have a negative outlook for the team for the coming weeks with two back to back losses before this week’s bye. I’ve mentioned it before, and it still stands true, the Bucs are not in a bad spot to start the season.

Many “experts” claimed that the Bucs had no chance during Jameis Winston’s suspension. At best, the thought is that they would go 1-3 during this four game span, but more “realistically” 0-4. Well those same “experts” were wrong. Not only have the Bucs showed that the can be explosive on offense, but more importantly they can win games against really good teams.

That has been the knack on many the wins the Bucs have gotten over the last few seasons. Especially when the Bucs went 10-6 with Josh Freeman, and it was that they simply beat bad teams and didn’t have that signature win to bring them back to legitimacy.

This season the Bucs have beaten a playoff team (and division rival), the reigning Super Bowl champs, and were a couple of plays away from beating another playoff team. Yes the Bucs lost a heart wrencher and then fell flat last week. Yes these Bucs have areas to improve, as do other good playoff-caliber teams. So what will it take for the Bucs fan base to realize that their beloved team is coming back into legitimacy and who’s arrow is still pointing up heading out of the bye?

Simply put, these 2018 Bucs do have the makings to be a really good football team, and time will ultimately tell if that plays out. Until that time Bucs fans, put away those brown paper bags, as your 2-2 Bucs aren’t in a bad spot.
