The Bucs sit at 2-3 and fans are now starting to point fingers. Some are calling for QB Jameis Winston to be benched in favor of Ryan Fitzpatrick. Admittedly this would be a bad move, but so far Winston has been a turnover machine.
Out of the 5 games played so far, Winston has only started one and played mop up duty against the Bears during that run away game. In one and a half games, Winston has completed 75% of his passes for 540 yds with 5TDs and 4 INTs. Not to mention he’s racing Bortles and Manning for most tunrovers in the league. Throwing 4 ints in 1 1/2 games though is just too much. Winston is constantly trying to fit balls into double coverage or in tight windows. He must cut down on the errant throws even though he does have the arm strength to make some throws that Ryan Fitzpatrick can’t.
Now that’s a lot of INT’s, but Winston has also been playing catch up, as the defense has been God awful. So relax Buc nation, Winston is going to be fine, he’s only 23 and will be the face of this franchise for years to come.
