Bucs vs Redskins Rapid Reactions

Another tough loss for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers losing 16-3 to the Redskins at home and fall 3-6. This was a game where there were plenty of really “offensive” mistakes. The #1 offense in the league represented anything but that. A total of two bad interceptions, 4 fumbles (2 lost), and a kicker in Catanzaro who couldn’t manage to kick between the goalposts for the majority of the game. The Bucs found themselves in the redzone 5 times today, but had three crucial turnovers and just 3 points to show for it. Those three turnovers could of equated to three touchdowns. To say this is a game of missed opportunities would be an understatement.

The Bucs defense on the other hand had one of their best overall performances of the year against the Redskins. The kept the ageless Adrian Peterson to 67 yards, no TD’s and Alex Smith in check for 178 yards and 1 TD. Even though they did keep them in check, the defense went another game without forcing a turnover.

A season that started hot with a 2-0 start for the Bucs has been riddled with key injuries, offensive/defensive miscues, a kicker who simply isn’t getting the job done, and an embattled franchise QB that has created an endless QB controversy. This game was primed to be an opportunity for the Bucs to turn their season around and get back into the thick of the playoff wildcard hunt. Instead Tampa Bay is left with many questions and few answers. Who is the QB to lead this franchise? How can the Bucs compete in all phases of the game? And does this coaching staff deserve to come back for the 2019 season? And finally, what will it take to fix these Buccaneers that seem so close yet so far from relevancy?
