Insert eye roll here. In her latest PR move, Miko Grimes has spoken out on the future of her husbands NFL career. No doubt that many fans have already seen her tweet in which she stated that if Brent Grimes remained in Tampa for a following year, it would be without her as she’s “already seen enough.”
This is what really bugs me about this. Brent Grimes is 35 years old and playing in his 12th NFL season. Every fan, reporter and coach knows that Grimes is playing his final games as an NFL cornerback. As an undersized player, Grimes relied on his athleticism. Father Time has taken that and now Brent isn’t the player he once was and is slowly becoming no more than a veteran presence amongst a young core of defensive backs.
The fact that Grimes won’t be back in a Bucs jersey isn’t a mystery to anyone in Tampa. The tweet from Miko is nothing more than a sad performance in a litany of similar tweets. Miko is more known for being outspoken and attention seeking than her basketball career and “talk show”. Be honest many people only know her as the wife of Brent Grimes.
To some outside of the Buccaneers organization, it might appear that Miko is in control of the situation. Miko speaks, Brent does. That’s exactly what she wants people to believe. Sadly everyone involved in some way with the team is just rolling their eyes at the latest pathetic attempt to remain relevant.
Maybe she should log out of social media for the next 6 months and allow her husband to enjoy his last games as an NFL player; without trying to divert the attention to herself for once.
