The QB Carousel

Who else is feeling a little dizzy? The Bucs’ QB carousel turned again in New York when Winston stepped in to replace an ineffective Fitzpatrick to try and spark something against the Giants.

This year Bucs fans have seen Fitzmagic and Fitztragic, Winston and Winstoff. Things never started right for Ryan Fitzpatrick, who now looks a shadow of the player that led the Buccaneers to a 2-0 start. Aside from his rushing TD, this was a game marked by ugly throws. Fitzpatrick is no longer playing freely and without pressure, and fans were treated to a frustrating day. It’s unclear if he will seek employment elsewhere after this season, but at this point he has played himself onto the bench.

With the 3rd quarter came Jameis Winston, and on his first drive many fans were left rolling their eyes as ball security issues were exposed. Fortunately for Winston and the Bucs, the fumble was recovered in the endzone by Evans. I’ve repeatedly said the likelihood of a new regime is high, and at this point Winston is auditioning for his career in Tampa. Nearly leading the team to a 4th-quarter comeback certainly helped his case.

It’s probable that Jameis is the starter against San Francisco, so let’s expect this rollercoaster to continue.
