AAF’s Top Team Is No Longer Undefeated
The Orlando Apollos headed into a week 7 matchup after picking up their first loss of the season. They found their winning ways quickly, though, after soundly beating the Atlanta Legends 36-6.

QB Garret Gilbert was very efficient, going 19 for 23 for 217 yards and 1 TD. The running game sealed the deal last Saturday and was led by De’Veon Smith. Despite only rushing for 40 yards, he led the team with 3 TD’s.

Apollos Face Re-energized Express Team
The Memphis Express (2-5) won a thrilling overtime game versus the Birmingham Iron last week, and it wasn’t without fireworks. Memphis had signed the polarizing QB Johnny Manziel, but ultimately Brandon Silvers started the game. That didn’t stop Memphis from capitalizing on Johnny Football merchandise or throwing Manziel into the game for a short time over Silver. Ultimately Silver finished the game and gave Memphis a much-needed win to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Apollos Look To Avoid a Rocky Time in Memphis
The stakes are simple. If the Apollos win they will further solidify themselves as the top seed in the league. If the Express win they will get to keep their playoff hopes alive for another week.
Despite Steve Spurrier having a rocky history playing in Tennessee, the Apollos should be able to start fast and put up points early on Memphis. The sticking point could be the Apollos’ defense and their ability to contain both Silver and Manziel. The most dangerous factor Orlando is facing is a down-trodden team that now has new life. If they are to squelch it, they must put the pressure on early.
