Quick and unscientific Bucs-Rams analysis

Don’t look now but here comes the undefeated Rams. More like here go the Buccaneers. Tampa Bay will begin the most outrageous of road trips playing the next five games on the road.

Two of those games are on the west coast with a trip across the Atlantic smack dab in the middle for good measure. But as Bruce Arians says, the most important game is the next game. So let’s take a peek at the Rams, shall we?

How They Do Offense

First off, QB Jared Goff will dink-and-dunk the defense to sleep and then hit a big one with precision passing. A solid receiving corps to implement head coach Sean McVay’s offense. WR Cooper Kupp runs routes so crisp his nickname should be Cookie.

RB Todd Gurley has yet to break 100 yards rushing in any of the teams first three games. He had 97 yards in Week 1 against the Panthers averaging just under seven yards-per-carry. McVay will also use the receivers in the rushing game. It’s kind of his wrinkle. He will throw the kitchen sink at you.

Pick Your Poison

The Buccaneers defense will have to continue to be aggressive as they scout for the trick play, and not allow Goff any time to get comfortable. They will need to play the receivers physically and disrupt the timing routes the Rams feast on.

As well as Tampa Bay has played the run this season, this could be the game to cheat a little toward the coverage while still making that Rams rush honest. This would be a great game to get Devin White back into the swing of things. His and Lavonte David’s sideline-to-sideline speed could be a great one-two combination.
