The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are sending three players to the Pro Bowl this year. Shaq Barrett, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.

This will be the Chris Godwin and Shaq Barrett’s first appearances. Mike Evans has been to three Pro Bowls, this will be his 2nd in a row. Evan’s three appearances ties Tony Mayberry’s record for Buccaneers offensive players making the Pro Bowl. This is the first time in franchise history that two wide receivers will make the Pro Bowl in the same season.

Evans on the selection,

“It’s always an honor to be named to the Pro Bowl, but especially this year because I get to experience it with Chris, to be the first pair of receivers in Buccaneers history to go the Pro Bowl in the same season is awesome. We both work hard to be considered among the best in the league and each of us getting chosen shows that our efforts are paying off.”

Barrett being selected is a no-brainer. He leads the NFL in sacks with 16.5, he is also tied for first in quarterback hits with 31 and tied for first with six forced fumbles.

Barrett on his selection

“To make the Pro Bowl, it’s a dream come true, that’s the best way I can sum it up. I dreamed of this growing up. It’s huge honor and I can only hope that I’ll have more to follow.”

Godwin making his first appearance is more than justified. The third year receiver is second in the NFL by posting 1,333 yards and ties for second in TDs with nine.

Godwin on his selection,

“Getting named to my first career Pro Bowl is such a blessing, this is a special moment and while I’ve worked hard to get to where I am in my career, I wouldn’t have been able to do this without my teammates and coaches. I’ve had the chance to play alongside some of the best in the NFL, including Mike Evans, and sharing the honor with Mike makes it even better. I’m extremely grateful for this opportunity.”

The Buccaneers have had an OP and down season. As they approach the final weeks it’s good to see some of these players getting the well deserved recognition.
