Another week closer to the draft means another mock draft here at Bucs Report. Here is a brand new full first round mock of the NFL Draft that begins on April 23rd.
Best player in college football last season and a huge need for Cincinnati.
Washington needs to protect their new quarterback Dwayne Haskins. Thomas is a massive tackle and the top offensive lineman on the board in my opinion.
Young is by far the best defensive player in this year’s draft. He will be a game-wrecker from Day 1.
Okudah looks like the best cornerback I’ve seen heading into a draft in a while. The Giants need a ton of help at cornerback and if Okudah is there, he should be the pick.
Herbert jumps ahead of Tua in this mock. If he impresses at the combine, it may give him the leverage he needs to be the second quarterback taken in the draft.
While he will still be a high draft pick, Tua’s injury last season really cost him and his draft stock. He falls to quarterback number three in this mock.
Brown would probably be a top three pick in this draft if the need for quarterbacks wasn’t so high. He’s a mix of run-stuffer and pass-rusher that is hard to find in this league.
Becton shot up the board in this mock. I had him at #26 in mock draft 1.0, but the more film that comes out on him, the more dominant he looks.
Simmons went top five in my first mock draft, and I still think he could. Linebackers are players that need to be can’t-miss if they are to go this high in the draft, and Simmons looks fairly bust-proof.
Wirfs is a versatile lineman who can also play guard. However the Browns decide to use him, Baker Mayfield will be happy with this pick.
Sam Darnold needs a lot more time to throw the ball if he is going to be a successful quarterback. Wills could play either tackle position but he looks like a natural right tackle.
Jeudy looks like the top wide receiver prospect and the Raiders need a receiver, regardless of who plays quarterback for them next season.
There are some holes in the Indianapolis secondary. I have Henderson as the number two cornerback prospect this season and the Colts might not be able to pass him up.
General Manager Jason Licht would have to pull the trigger on Kinlaw if he is still sitting at 14. A top defensive lineman prospect who would fit in very nicely next to Vita Vea.
Denver traded away Emmanuel Sanders in the middle of last season. They need help at receiver and CeeDee Lamb is coming off of a 14 touchdown season at Oklahoma.
With guys like Christian McCaffrey and Alvin Kamara running around in the division, the Falcons need a sure-tackler who can also cover running backs. Murray led Oklahoma’s defense and is now ready to take his leadership to the NFL.
McKinney is the top safety prospect of the draft class and Dallas has needed a safety for a while now. I wouldn’t be surprised if McKinney became a top safety in the league early in his career.
Miami traded away Minkah Fitzpatrick last season. Now, they need to find a replacement for the secondary and Diggs could be that guy.
Head Coach Jon Gruden and the rest of the Raiders need some help on defense. Davis is a massive run-clogging tackle that will take care of the middle.
Jacksonville uses their second first-rounder on another defensive player in this mock. A boost to the secondary that could help get Jacksonville back to the level of defense from a couple seasons ago.
Carson Wentz did not get much help from his receiving core last season. Jefferson is fresh off a National Championship and will improve the offense right away.
Ruggs has number one receiver potential and that is exactly what Buffalo needs to get for Josh Allen. He’s also one of the fastest players in the entire draft class.
Epenesa’s size and speed coming off the edge makes him a prime first round prospect. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him go even earlier.
New Orleans needs to find a #2 receiver to lineup on the other side of Michael Thomas. Another playmaker heads to an already fire-powered offense.
As in the first mock draft, the Vikings end up taking a cornerback. They will need to fill some holes after free agency and Fulton can be used outside or in the slot.
Weaver has so many ways of getting to the quarterback. He’s a strong player who can run through guys, or he could spin or swim around slower linemen. Double-digit sack type of player for many years to come.
Delpit may go a lot higher than this. He showed his ball-hawking abilities all season and in the National Championship with LSU. Seattle could use another versatile defensive back.
League MVP Lamar Jackson won that title without even having a bonafide number one receiver. Imagine what he could do with a 6’2″ weapon like Shenault.
Tennessee was average against the run last season. Queen provides the ability to disrupt the run as well as cover tight ends and running backs.
Green Bay showed some holes in run defense last season. Blacklock would be a great fit next to Kenny Clark and could really improve the overall defense.
Ruiz is the first center taken off the board here. He’s a strong player who can open up holes in the middle.
With the final pick in the first round, the first running back comes off the board. Taylor will significantly improve a backfield that will most likely be parting ways with LeSean McCoy.
After the NFL Combine takes place from February 26th- March 4th, we should have a better understanding of some of the guys who sneak their way into, and out of the first round. Make sure to keep up with all draft-related news right here at bucsreport.com
