Once a rising star for the Buccaneers’ defense, former LSU linebacker Kendell Beckwith was waived late Tuesday afternoon.

As tweeted by Greg Auman of the Athletic, the move was more of a formality after the former LSU star was unable to return to play after injuring his ankle as a passenger in a 2018 car accident.

A third round pick in 2017, Beckwith played every linebacker position his rookie season. He recorded 73 tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble while taking over as middle linebacker for an injured Kwon Alexander. Beckwith had nothing but upside and talent after being drafted by Tampa Bay
