Buccaneers Receive 2021 Compensatory Pick

The good news keeps coming in for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The NFL sent out its list of compensatory picks for the 2021 NFL Draft on Wednesday and the Bucs are set to receive a sixth-round pick due to the departure of Breshad Perriman in 2020.

The formula for calculating which team gets a compensatory pick is essentially unknown, but there is enough history and precedent to where experts can formulate a general idea of what is going to happen.

To put it in layman’s terms: If your team loses more free agents than you bring in, then said team may be eligible for an extra draft compensation in the following years draft. In the case of the Buccaneers, they were given pick No. 216 after the Jets signed Perriman to a one-year, $6.5 million deal.

The Buccaneers now have eight picks in the upcoming draft. The full list of 2021 NFL Draft selections for the Buccaneers is below:

  • Round 4, Pick 139
  • Round 5, Pick 178
  • Round 6, Pick 216 (Compensatory)
