The Buccaneers are heading into their second preseason game against the Tennessee Titans, but first comes the mandatory roster cuts. NFL teams have until 4PM EST on August 17 to get to their rosters down to 85 players.

The Buccaneers are officially there after waiving wide receiver John Franklin III and (injured) guard Donell Stanley.

Franklin has been on the Bucs PUP/active list since the start of training camp, so the move makes sense in his regard. Stanley has battled injuries as of late and missed the preseason opener against the Bengals. Third-round draft pick Robert Hainsey currently has the inside track as backup center, which likely aided the decision, as well.

Tampa Bay released wide receiver Josh Pearson, cornerback Cameron Kinley, and tight end De’Quan Hampton on Sunday. The team also placed Sadarius Hutcherson on IR after tearing his ACL on Saturday night against the Bengals. These corresponding moves helped the Bucs trim the roster down to the NFL’s requirement.

The Bucs’ roster is now at 85 with another cut down to 80 by August 24. Teams are expected to have their initial 53-man rosters finalized by 4PM EST on August 31.
