The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are expected to make a formal trade offer to the Houston Texans for quarterback Deshaun Watson per Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network.

On Friday, a grand jury in Texas decided not to bring charges against Watson. Watson still faces several civil lawsuits as well as possibly a suspension by the league.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said via email. “We have been closely monitoring all developments in the matter which remains under review of the personal conduct policy.”

The Texans are expected to grant Watson permission to talk with teams interested in trading for the three-time Pro Bowler. As Aaron Wilson reports, the Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are three teams are all expected to make formal offers as soon as permission is granted to Watson.

Watson’s contract has a no-trade clause, per source the Texans will work with him to facilitate a trade sooner than later.

There are several other teams that are rumored to be interested in Watson. The Buccaneers have most complete roster of the that list. Unfortunately the Buccaneers have the least attractive draft capital. This means if the Bucs are to make a legitimate offer it would most likely include draft picks AND players.

The Buccaneers could remain perennial contenders if they can land Watson. The problem of course is first agreeing to the terms of a trade. Then the Buccaneers have to figure out how Watson’s contract would work in the long-term.
