Buccaneers’ Barrett Has Achilles Injury that “Doesn’t Look Good”

0

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers dropped their third game in a row Thursday night against the Ravens. But that might not be their biggest loss of the night.

Per NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, Shaq Barrett’s injury may be more severe than the originally reported ankle injury.

“Bucs star pass-rusher Shaq Barrett is feared to have suffered a torn Achilles based on the initial exam, source said. Coach Todd Bowles said it doesn’t look good and he’ll have an MRI tomorrow (Monday).”

Buccaneers’ head coach Todd Bowles confirmed this in his press conference following the game. “He has an Achilles right now. We’ll wait for the MRI but it doesn’t look good.”

The severity is not known until the MRI results come back. A torn Achilles would all but end Barrett’s 2022 season. If that’s the case, it’s an enormous loss for the Buccaneers defense.

If the MRI results come back as a torn Achilles the recovery time for that is between 6 and 12 months. We will keep you updated as new information becomes available.
