Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ quarterback Tom Brady is a man of many expertises. He’s a teammate, a leader, a preparation fanatic and the greatest to ever play the position. Apparently there’s also some coaching expertise as well.

Rumors have surfaced in the past that Brady likes to tweak the offensive gameplan. Remember the “red marker” report? So with the team’s recent offensive ineptitude, those rumors of Brady tweaking gameplans are back. Head coach Todd Bowles addressed this Monday.

“No, we know what’s going on in the meeting and we know all the tweaks. The defensive guys meet by themselves as well. We have several position groups that meet by themselves as well to get on the same page together before a game. That’s nothing …That’s not new.”

Position group meetings aren’t uncommon. But NFL insider Michael Silver reports it’s more than just a tweak here or a meeting there. Silver reports that Brady makes last-second changes that head coach Todd Bowles and offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich are not aware of.

“The level of responsibility that Brady imposes upon himself has always been massive, and this year, he’s taxed to the max. One example: On the night before each game, Brady runs a separate meeting with the Bucs’ skill players during which he goes over the gameplan, makes tweaks to assignments and formations and provides a revised blueprint — one which first-year head coach Todd Bowles, offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich and the rest of the staff are left to discover in real time once the game begins.”

As mentioned earlier, Bowles seemed to dismiss the report, take from that what you will.
