One of the most legendary figures in Buccaneers history has just passed away. Monte Kiffin was 84 when he died peacefully. Obviously, I was rather young when Kiffin was at his height, but that doesn’t mean I don’t recognize his accomplishments.

He is best known in football circles as the creator of ‘Tampa 2’. A defensive scheme that was emulated across the league as it was one of the best at the time. Of course, it was this scheme that helped the Bucs win their first Super Bowl in 2002. Because of those accomplishments and so many more, he is the longest tenured coach in Tampa history at 13 years. He has also spent time with other NFL teams like Jacksonville, the Cowboys, and was part of the staff at Ole Miss before his tragic passing. His mark can still be found on current coaches, most notably Mike Tomlin and Raheem Morris.
He leaves behind a wife and three children.
