Buccaneers Sign UFL Tight End Sal Cannella

With Randy Gregory going to the reserve list, the Buccaneers had a roster spot open. The Bucs tight ends unit isn’t the most exciting thing, so why not add someone there.

From Fox Sports Greg Auman,

“Bucs are signing tight end Sal Cannella, most recently in UFL with Arlington. Takes the roster spot opened when Randy Gregory went on reserve list.”

As first reported by NFL Insider Aaron Wilson, the Buccaneers are adding a tight end to their roster. Sal Cannella has spent time with various NFL teams like the Dolphins, Packers, and Seahawks. But, last season, he was in the UFL where he posted 496 yards and six tds.

Honestly, that’s pretty damn good for a TE. He went undrafted in the NFL after a very mediocre career at Auburn. As I already alluded to, this TE doesn’t exactly light a fire on offense for the Bucs. I am excited to see Cade Otton in year 3, but so far, he has been very average. there are some intriguing pieces behind Otton, but I think Cannella can help a small but if he can stay on the roster.
