Captain’s Table/Walk the Plank: Buccaneers vs Broncos

0

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers fell to the Denver Broncos 26-7 to fall to 2-1 on the season. That can only mean it’s time for Carter Brantley’s weekly article “Captain’s Table/Walk the Plank”. Enjoy!

Walk the Plank:

Offside penalties

A 3rd and 14 was turned into a 3rd and 4. Because of consecutive offsides penalties. One of the most baffling things I’ve ever seen.

Baker Mayfield

My goodness what a horrid pick to start the game. Did he not see the safety? Even without it, it’s still a horrible throw that would’ve been at best a risky incompletion, but obviously just a terrible start. Wasn’t able to bounce back, had some other terrible throws, took some big drive-killing sacks, and was a big reason why the Buccaneers had such a stinker. Might’ve been his worst game as a Buc.

Missed tackles

Felt like there were about 40.

Pass rush

Could they have had a worse game against a worse offensive line? I don’t think so, but I’m sure they’ll make me eat my words at some point later this season.

Secondary

I won’t be as harsh on this group as the pass rush, because they played a great game last week in Detroit, but Denver has some dogshit receivers and a rookie QB. No excuse for Nix to have had the game he did.

All of us for having to watch this game

I mean, the Bucs really made us sit through that, what a shame. I could’ve spent my Sunday washing clothes (ok I wasn’t going to do that) or enjoying my day. Instead, I had to sit through this nonsense.

The Carolina Panthers

I won’t criticize their decision to bench Bryce Young. But I will put them to the coals now and forever for ruining his career. They set him up for failure by giving him one of the worst offensive lines in football last season and no weapons. At all. So of course he’s going to develop poor habits and not be able to have any type of success, even after they’ve given him a competent offensive line (still no good playmakers, though).

Captain’s Table:

The “Bucky” chants

Whoever started this trend in RayJay. Fantastic. Love it. He was electric at the end of the 1st half, picking up some big gains to set up a Bucs TD, and his elite performance was met with that wonderful crowd making some noise in his honor.
