Big Buccaneers Gambling Guide: Week Five vs Falcons

0

Last week was a difficult week in terms of betting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With a lengthy injury report, player props didn’t come out until Friday afternoon. Despite this, it was still a 3-1 week and a big win for the Bucs.

Now we prepare for Thursday night football against the Atlanta Falcons. The lines are out and I believe there is money to be made this week with the Bucs. Pair them in a parlay or pick and choose your favorites; here is my Big Buccaneers Gambling Guide for week five against the Falcons.

Mike Evans Over 59.5 Receiving Yards

After two straight weeks of struggling offense, we finally saw the Buccaneers prioritize Mike Evans last week. He went for 94 yards and a touchdown on 14 targets. Using a Hall of Fame wide receiver is smart coaching and I believe that Liam Coen is a smart coach.

I expect him to continue with this formula again in this game. It might not feature a lot of deep shots with the likes of Jessie Bates on the back end of the defense, but Evans can use his size and route running to work the intermediate passes in the 5-12 yard area of the field consistently. I’ll take the over on this one.

Bucky Irving Over 7.5 Receiving Yards

This is a number that I find borderline disrespectful for Bucky Irving. The rookie running back has looked good every week and has earned more touches and trust from the coaching staff. His role is only increasing in this offense.

Granted his 34 receiving yards on the season is not especially impressive and certainly plays a role in this line. Despite that, we know that Irving is a well rounded running back who can catch the ball well out of the backfield. We have seen him eclipse this 7.5 number in half of the Buccaneers games this year and I believe he will do so again this week.

Rachaad White Over 22.5 Receiving Yards

The Falcons have a strong secondary, particularly at safety. This means it might be a nickel and dime type of attack this week. Lots of short passes, underneath throws,  screens and passes to the flats.

In short, it should set up for a big day for running backs catching the ball. We know that this is where Rachaad White is at his best. He thrives at making the first defender miss in space and picking up yards after catch. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him have more receiving yards than rushing yards in this game and hit the over on this 22.5 number.

Rachaad White Over 3.5 Receptions

Going hand in hand with the previous bet, I expect a big workload for Rachaad White through the air. Swing passes, screens and other quick hitters to get the ball in his hands. It’s a great way to attack these Atlanta linebackers and slow down the likes of Matthew Judon and Grady Jarrett.

The Falcons are currently 7th in the NFL in fewest yards allowed per rush attempt. Because of this, I think the Bucs will do more quick passes as an extension of the running game as opposed to pounding the rock. This favors an over bet here.

Chris Godwin Over 6.5 Receptions

Chris Godwin is another player who does a lot in the quick passing game. How many times have we seen the quarterback get the ball and immediately pass it out to Godwin on a screen? This year is no exception and it has been working very well as he is currently the leading in the NFL in yards after catch.

Godwin currently ranks 7th in the NFL in receiving yards. He is getting a lot of targets as defenses focus their attention on stopping Mike Evans and Godwin has made the most of those opportunities. I expect more of the same in this game, so I will take the over on 6.5 catches.
