The Tampa Bay Buccaneers welcome their bye week amidst an injury-plagued season. Head Coach Todd Bowles’ team desperately needs a break after persevering through key absences, including Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, along with Tristan Wirfs, Luke Goedeke, Antoine Winfield Jr, Trey Palmer, Calijah Kancey and Jalen McMillan.
With a 4-6 record and four-game skid in tow, the bye week offers Todd Bowles and his staff a crucial opportunity to evaluate the season’s first half. Now, attention turns to Bowles’ strategy for maximizing the bye week.
“Trying to get everybody healthy, to recalibrate,” Bowles stated. “We’ll get some guys healthy hopefully some guys that are playing bang up, hopefully they get healthy. Get to recalibrate, step back, look at everything as coaches we’ll self-scout, and we’ll come up with better plans. We’ll do some things to get ready for the stretch run.”
The Buccaneers’ 4-6 record points to their tough luck with three one-score losses, including an overtime defeat and a walk-off field goal to San Francisco. Slim margins have consistently gone against Tampa Bay this season.
Despite injuries, Tampa Bay’s ability to remain competitive in close games is encouraging. As Todd Bowles noted, the bye week offers a crucial opportunity for healing, setting the stage for a strengthened roster to make a playoff push.
