Buccaneers Stomp Giants 30-7, Improve To 5-6

Yeah so the Tampa Bay Buccaneers just curb stomped the ever-loving hell out of the New York Giants. The game went how everyone assumed it would go barring some tomfoolery. Tomfoolery was not to be had, at least not by the Giants. The Bucs did very little to complain about, but never fear, I will find some things to bitch about.

I personally think they kept starters out there way too long. The game was basically over like halfway through the 4th. On top of that Baker Mayfield suffered some type of neck stinger, so to keep him out there is curious. On top of that, they kept defensive starters and the starting RBs in instead of Sean Tucker. It just seems like you’re playing with fire. However, nobody seemed seriously injured except for maybe Jordan Whitehead (which happened earlier), so it’s probably a moot point. Just reminded me of the Raven’s game in a bad way.

But outside of that, everything went perfectly for the Buccaneers. The run game was pretty solid with four ball carriers getting rushing TDs, so that’s dope. Baker played absolutely out of his mind Sunday. Never put the ball in harm’s way apart from a wonky hand off to Rachaad White when the game was all but over. This game showed exactly what makes Baker a great QB. He plays with an energy and a love to be on the field. He was blocking down field for Bucky Irving when the game was, again, basically over. Also him taking Tommy Devito’s celebration was just funny, even if he did it pretty poorly.

While I wouldn’t say any WR had a particularly eye popping game, Mike Evans coming off a hamstring injury did look pretty good. Wasn’t fast, but he was running crisp routes and still had 68 yards, leading the team. He didn’t seem to be a focal point in the offense, but he still made an impact. It was more receiver by committee today. Rakim Jarrett had a big catch, same for Payne Durham, and Trey Palmer did alright.

The guy that was absolutely impacting the offense was Bucky Irving. He had a 56 yard run and also another run where he might’ve broken a tackle from every single player on the defense. There were Bucky chants in Metlife that were deafening. Just fantastic. He also had the second most receiving yards, with most coming off of screens.

Defense played just a solid game. Bowles schemed up a lot of blitzes to knock Tommy Devito off balance and it worked. There was hardly ever a clean pocket for that man. Vita Vea was wrecking their shit as per usual and our CBs mostly held up in coverage. Which is good because the Giants only have one WR.

This was probably a bad game to watch for most people, but it was exactly what the Bucs needed. The defense played well, the offense was steamrolling the opposition, and special teams didn’t allow a big punt return (although Chase did miss a PAT, what the hell was that). If the Bucs can continue this dominance, then they can make their way into the playoffs.
