The Tampa Bay Buccaneers dominated the New York Giants 30-7 on Sunday, boosting their record to 5-6 and moving closer to achieving .500. Following the decisive victory, head coach Todd Bowles and linebacker Lavonte David addressed the team, striking a balanced tone by acknowledging the triumph while also emphasizing the need for continued improvement.
“Great focus coming out of the bye,” Bowles said to the team. “That’s how we wanted to start the second half. Obviously, we have to finish the ballgame, right? We talked about killer instinct. We’re only halfway there — we got six more of these, we got to play the same way, but at the end of the ballgame, we have to finish them out.”
Lavonte David’s message was straight to the point,
“Way to keep fighting,” David said emphatically. “Keep stacking them up. Keep stacking them up.”
As the Buccaneers aim to sustain their momentum, they’ll shift their focus to their upcoming showdown with the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, marking the first of two pivotal matchups between the divisional rivals. With the Panthers on the horizon, the Buccaneers will also keep a close eye on the Atlanta Falcons, who currently hold a precarious lead in the NFC South standings.
For Tampa Bay to reinsert themselves into the playoff conversation, they’ll need the Falcons to stumble in the final stretch, creating an opportunity for the Buccaneers to close the gap and potentially overtake them.
