How The Buccaneers Can Beat The Chargers

0

Alright, so I’m not in fact dead. Truth is, it’s just me running this thing, and I was packing and getting ready for my graduation. So if anyone cared why I wasn’t very active, that was the reason why. But I’m back and ready to get locked in.

For the Buccaneers to beat the Chargers, they have less to worry about on the offensive front and more to worry about with the defense. This Chargers defense is absolutely nasty. Number one scoring defense in the league and makes every game look like it’s a throwback to the 60s. This game will either be 10-9 or 37-35. That is my final prediction. The Bucs’ offense cannot afford to mess around like they did against the Raiders and Panthers. Bucs will not win this game if Baker malfunctions in the second and third quarter.

Now, normally I would say even a bad Bucs’ defense can keep the Chargers in check, but this defense has lost everyone. Winfield likely won’t make an appearance until the playoffs (assuming the Bucs make it). We basically have no LBs left and no safeties left. Thankfully, we have Christian Izien playing in this game. But this is about the worst case scenario with injuries. And even more unfortunately, Ladd McConkey will be active for the Chargers. Now, the Bucs did a really good job in shutting down the Raiders one good offensive weapon. But Justin Herbert is far better than AOC is.

At the end of the day, the Bucs already would’ve had a tough time with the Chargers if every secondary player didn’t have a baseball bat taken to their knees. I expect this to be an ugly game. But if the Bucs are able to get going on offense (hopefully Bucky and Rachaad White can help with that), they might be able to shut down a mediocre Chargers defense by forcing them into a hole early. They likely won’t get much of a run game, so the Bucs have to shut down Herbert’s arm. Lose here, and they can’t afford another loss the rest of the season.
