Buccaneers Playoff Push: Pressure Creates Diamonds

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are currently in first-place in the NFC South. With three games remaining in the 2024 season the pressure is on the Pewter Pirates to keep winning and hold onto that first-place position.

The Buccaneers aren’t just feeling the pressure of a playoff birth, they’re applying it as well, to the Atlanta Falcons.

The Falcons just benched their prized free agent acquisition in Kirk “you like that” Cousins. They are turning the reigns over to Michael Penix for the remainder of the season.

The Bucs and Falcons both had one tough game remaining on their schedule prior to last weekend. The Bucs trip to Los Angeles vs the Chargers and the Falcons playing at Washington, we’re seen as games where both could lose. Tampa Bay upset win over the Chargers changed that in a big way BUT the pressure  to win remains high.
It is very likely that by the time the Bucs get ready to play the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football, they will be 1/2 a game up on the Falcons as they are playing the Giants earlier that day.
The Bucs have to continue to put the pressure on the Falcons by beating the Cowboys. Simply put, they are the better team. They are also better than the Panthers and Saints so there’s no excuse losing to them either.
The Bucs have shown the ability to run vs any team in the league and I expect them to do that during these last 3 games. It may not be easy like last weekend but they MUST find a way to win each game. A division title awaits them. They don’t need any help from a Falcon loss, nor should they expect one.
Pressure is turning up for the Buccaneers. It’s time to make diamonds starting on Sunday night.

Of all the NFL teams that I could follow, why did I choose the Tampa Bay Buccaneers? It was 1979, I was an impressionable 12-year-old living in Canada. At that time, getting any NFL coverage was tough enough but that was reserved for the elite teams like the Cowboys, Steelers etc. I watched one game at 1 PM and one game at 4 PM. That was it. No Redzone, no night games on Sunday Each Christmas my family would drive from Montreal to visit my aunt in Jacksonville. I remember seeing the Bucs playing on TV against the Falcons when I was there. I saw something that day that changed my fandom forever. There was a QB wearing number 12, in an orange jersey and he wasn’t white! As a minority myself, seeing a non-white QB was something that immediately I was drawn to. I knew that this was the team, and this was the guy who I would follow. The years between 1979 and 1997 were obviously difficult but my fandom never wavered. If anything, it made me stronger as a person. I’ve often joked that I’ve had 3 wives but only ONE football team. I was asked if I wanted to write the occasional article for Bucs Report. Talking and writing about the Bucs is a full-time hobby so of course my answer was YES. I’m 56, retired and living in Costa Rica now. I sport 4 Buc tattoos and have been fortunate to make many visits to Tampa to watch the Bucs. I’ve made countless friends and even more memories. I look forward to chatting and interacting with the many Buccaneer fans throughout the world. Go Bucs Greg D’Cruz
