In the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ resounding 48-14 win over the Panthers in Week 17, quarterback Baker Mayfield delivered a career highlight-reel performance. His impressive stats included a career-tying high for touchdown passes in a single game, showcasing his skill and precision.

Following the game, Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles spoke about Mayfield’s performance,

“He really played a heck of a ballgame, intelligently,” Bowles stated. “We didn’t turn it over offensively, we were very good on third down and he controlled the ball, spread it around, got everybody touches, and he played a good ballgame.”

Mayfield’s standout performance saw him complete 27 of 32 passes for 359 yards, five touchdowns, and zero turnovers, setting a new career high. Notably, this achievement ranks among his top performances, including his fifth-highest passing yardage total, a career-tying high for touchdown passes, and his fourth-best completion percentage of 84.4%.

Since being drafted first overall by the Cleveland Browns in 2018, Mayfield had yet to surpass 4,100 passing yards in a single season. However, 2024 has seen a resurgence, with Mayfield reaching 4,279 yards through 16 games. Additionally, this season marks his highest touchdown pass total, eclipsing his previous best of 28 in 2023 with 39 and counting.
