As the Tampa Bay Buccaneers enter the final week of the regular season, week 18, the toll of a 16-game schedule is evident. Injuries have accumulated, a common plight for many teams at this stage.
Head coach Todd Bowles addressed the media on Monday, providing updates on several injured Buccaneers players. Among them was cornerback Jamel Dean, who sustained a bilateral knee injury on Sunday, although Bowles offered no update on Dean’s condition or prognosis.
Buccaneers tight end Cade Otton has missed the last two games with a knee injury. Bowles stated the team won’t know Otton’s status until later in the week
“He’ll work through the week and once we see progress, we’ll make that determination probably Friday or Saturday,” Bowles said via JoeBucsFan.com.
Bowles isn’t ready to rule All-Pro safety Antoine Winfield Jr out for the finale against the dreaded Saints.
“He’s getting better,” Bowles stated. “Again, I have to see him run a little bit more before I make that decision.”
The Buccaneers just recently signed outside linebacker Shaq Barrett. Head coach Todd Bowles wouldn’t rule him out versus New Orleans either.
“Yeah, we’ll consider it. We have to see how his practice week goes as well.”
The Pewter Pirates have been dealing with injuries all season long. This week, the last if the regular season is no different. At least these injured players seem to be trending in the right direction.
