Hey Buccaneers Fans, Ignore Tyreek Hill’s Tweet

The 2024 NFL season has come to a close for both the Miami Dolphins and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Dolphins’ season ended short of a playoff berth, while the Buccaneers’ postseason run was halted in the Wild Card round with a loss to the Washington Commanders.

The 2024 season was marked by challenges for both teams, but their struggles stemmed from different circumstances. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were navigating a transitional period after investing heavily in their roster during the Tom Brady era, whereas the Miami Dolphins, boasting an elite roster, fell short of meeting the lofty expectations surrounding them.

As the offseason approaches, both franchises are poised to undergo significant transformations in pursuit of improved fortunes in 2025. This renewal process will likely involve an influx of new talent through various channels, including the NFL draft, free agency, and trade acquisitions. Notably, the Miami Dolphins’ disappointing season has been accompanied by uncertainty surrounding star wide receiver Tyreek Hill’s future with the team. Hill’s apparent emotional farewell during the season finale, followed by subtle hints on social media suggesting a desire to leave Miami, has fueled speculation about his potential departure.

Following Tyreek Hill’s remarks, there has been a notable shift in tone, suggesting that both Hill and the Dolphins are now open to the possibility of him remaining in Miami for the duration of his contract, which is slated to expire prior to the 2027 season.

Because, of Course He Did

But Tyreek Hill is a drama queen, so of course he has to feed that need by going to social media and dropping a cryptic tweet.

Hill’s post from his Twitter account, “3 hour drive to Tampa about to be a breeze.”

Hill is just doing Hill stuff here. Would he actually consider playing for the Buccaneers? Sure. Would the Buccaneers actually consider bringing this diva into their locker room? I highly doubt it.

Although neither Tyreek Hill nor the Dolphins have officially indicated a desire to part ways, Hill’s history of openly expressing his aspirations and career goals suggests that he will continue to advocate for his own interests. This trait was evident in his decision to leave Kansas City for Miami, and it may yet influence his future with the Dolphins.

The Buccaneers’ receiver corps, led by Mike Evans and complemented by Jalen McMillan as WR3, appears relatively set. While the team will need to address Chris Godwin’s contract situation, they don’t have an immediate need for another wide receiver, particularly one with the distinct profile of Tyreek Hill. Instead, the Buccaneers are likely to focus on bolstering their roster through free agency and the draft, prioritizing positions beyond wide receiver.

The Rub

Hill has tremendous talent. He also has a tremendous ego and isn’t exactly what you’d call a team player. His contract is just to big for a team digging out of salary hell to take on. Then there’s the issue of what compensation the Dolphins would want for Hill. Especially for a 30 year-old receiver that tends to act half of his age.

Oh, and Tyreek, Tampa is nearly a five hour drive from Miami.
