Mayfield Makes Buccaneers History With Pro Bowl Call

The 2024 National Football League campaign turned into yet another season to be proud of for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as they won ten times as they travelled on their journey to yet another NFC South divisional title and it was the fourth in a row for the Bucs as they again made the Playoffs.

Having picked up those results there was obviously a lot that head coach Todd Bowles could be pleased with, and on a personal front ten wins was his best in a regular season since taking the role on at the Raymond James Stadium and he had plenty of players on the roster to thank for that achievement, and the obvious consistency that they are showing year on year.

For those NFL fans enjoy games like Slingo Fortunes Slot and others, picking the right casino game to enjoy is no different from building the right team for success, and for the Bucs one of those stars was obviously quarterback Baker Mayfield as the 29 year old, 2018 top draft pick, largely went from strength to strength again and having been named in the 2023 Pro Bowl selection, he has only gone and done it again when it comes to the 2024 edition.

In being named to his second Pro Bowl last Tuesday, he enters the history books of the Bucs as he becomes the first quarterback in our history to receive multiple invitations to the showpiece event, and that was something even legendary gunslinger and well known serial winner, Tom Brady, could not manage in his three years with us as he only got the nod once.

Whilst everyone can naturally debate whether or not that should have been an honour that first went to 15 time Pro Bowler Brady, especially as he lifted a Super Bowl with us, is probably a conversation best held for another time, and it did look like Mayfield was originally set to miss out this year which had surprised plenty in the game.

Not being originally in the selected trio was seen as somewhat of a snub, but with the Bucs ultimately not making the Super Bowl this year following the incredibly narrow defeat to the Washington Commanders, it was probably only going to be a matter of time before he replaced their thrower Jayden Daniels in the group as the alternative, and took his place as the third named alongside fellow NFC quarterbacks Jarod Goff of the Detroit Lions and Sam Darnold of the Minnesota Vikings.

Daniels, as many will know, ultimately took himself out of contention having picked up a late injury which ruled him out. Some may say that with luck not being with him for the original selection, it returned when it counted and from his point of view and where he sits, he will simply be celebrating successive back to back calls to represent the NFC.

Given that his 2023 appearance saw him make a great impression on the stage, with him lifted the Pro Bowl Games’ offensive Most Valuable Player award having defeated Geno Smith in the precision passing event, Mayfield will be heading to Orlando looking to lift that award for the second year in a row as well.

It would be quite the achievement given how close he came to missing out, so he joins wide receiver Mike Evans, tackle Tristan Wirfs and defensive tackle Vita Vea in representing the Buccaneers at the event.
